澳籍華人，祖籍中國(guó)廣東順德。17歲和家人從香港移民至澳大利亞。1991年，蘇震西作為獨(dú)立候選人參加市議員競(jìng)選，并獲得成功。2001年，蘇震西在墨爾本市長(zhǎng)選舉中擊敗多名實(shí)力雄厚的競(jìng)爭(zhēng)者，成為墨爾本第一位直選市長(zhǎng)，也是該市首位華裔市長(zhǎng)。他所領(lǐng)導(dǎo)的團(tuán)結(jié)高效的市政府在第一任期內(nèi)做了大量出色的工作，政績(jī)突出。在他任職期間，墨爾本市連續(xù)被評(píng)為“全球最適宜居住城市”；2006年獲得“世界最佳市長(zhǎng)”榮譽(yù)。
 

Chinese Australian and native of Shunde, Guangdong, China; He emigrated from Hong Kong to Australia with his family when he was 17. In 1991, he participated in the city council election as an independent candidate and succeeded. In 2001, he defeated numerous powerful competitors in the mayor election in Melbourne and became the first directly elected mayor of Melbourne and the first Chinese Australian mayor of the city. He has done excellent work in his first term with the united and efficient government under his leadership with a lot of outstanding political achievements. During his tenure, the city of Melbourne was named “the most livable city in the world”; and he won the honor of “the best mayor in the world” in 2006. 
 

      作為一名華裔市長(zhǎng)，蘇震西自幼接受的是中華傳統(tǒng)文化教育，始終不忙自己流淌著是中華民族的血脈，為此，他多次訪問中國(guó)，為推動(dòng)中澳兩國(guó)的文化與經(jīng)貿(mào)往來合作作出了巨大貢獻(xiàn)。
 

As a mayor of Chinese Australian, Su Zhenxi received traditional Chinese cultural education since childhood and he always bears it in mind that he has the flowing blood of the Chinese nation, for which he visited China many times and made a great contribution to promoting culture, economic and trade cooperation between China and Australia.
